ICAS study plan: four weeks of subject-specific active practice
A short four-week plan for format familiarisation, subject diagnostics, targeted correction and an online rehearsal.
ICAS preparation should fit around ordinary learning. Identify the exact subject and year level, then schedule two or three short sessions a week.
Week 1: understand and diagnose
Read official subject information and school instructions. Complete a short unseen set on screen. Tag errors by skill, cause and whether navigation contributed.
Week 2: repair the weakest skills
Retrieve the relevant method, attempt fresh questions and explain the evidence. Re-attempt missed skills after a delay rather than repeating the answer immediately.
Week 3: mix and time
Combine question families within the subject. Use a realistic section clock and practise moving on from an unproductive item. Review guesses.
Week 4: rehearse lightly
Complete one moderate online rehearsal early in the week. Revisit only recurring errors, then taper and follow the school’s test-day arrangements.
Keep results in perspective
The goal of practice is stronger reasoning on unseen work. Do not promise an award from an unofficial score or make one optional assessment the measure of a student.
