把 sentences: what happens to an object

Use subject + 把 (bǎ) + identifiable object + verb phrase to focus on what is done to the object. A result, direction or other completion detail normally follows the verb.
请把书放在桌子上。
Qǐng bǎ shū fàng zài zhuōzi shàng.
Please put the book on the table.
我把作业写完了。
Wǒ bǎ zuòyè xiě wán le.
I finished writing the homework.
A bare transitive verb often does not complete a 把 sentence. Put negation or a modal before 把: 不要把书放在这里。
