Two original examples

朝ご飯を食べました。そして、学校へ行きました。

I ate breakfast. Then I went to school.

この部屋は明るいです。そして、静かです。

This room is bright. It is also quiet.

Usage and distinctions

そして connects statements in sequence or adds information. It does not automatically mean “therefore”: だから or そのため makes a causal relation more explicit. Check whether the link is time, addition or a reason.
