WA ASET test day tips: candidate instructions and final checks
A practical checklist for official communication, arrival, section resets, writing control and reporting test-day issues.
Current candidate communication from the official process overrides generic advice. Confirm the venue, arrival time, identification and permitted materials before the test morning.
Prepare calmly
Pack approved items, plan transport with margin and choose familiar food. Stop full practice the day before. A short method reminder is enough.
Across objective sections
Read qualifiers carefully, use checkpoints and eliminate impossible options when uncertain. Reset between components; a hard abstract item should not affect the first reading question that follows.
For writing
Plan the purpose and direction, draft with specific detail and reserve a final interval for prompt alignment, paragraphs and sentence control.
Problems and follow-up
Report an immediate issue to the supervisor. Families should use the official Department process for later questions about incidents, results or placement. Do not reconstruct secure questions online.
