Free ChatGPT language learning prompts and agent skills
Choose a practice language, feedback language, level and text or voice. Copy a skill into your chat, or download its instructions for a compatible agent.
Conversation partner
Run a turn-by-turn language role-play with a concrete communication goal and a short retry. Use when a learner wants everyday, travel, social or workplace conversation practice in any requested language, by text or voice.
Rehearse a language oral exam with one question at a time, delayed feedback and a second attempt. Use when a learner asks to prepare for a speaking assessment; use their supplied format or clearly label a generic rehearsal.
Practise interview answers in a chosen language through grounded follow-ups and a concise retry. Use for job, study or volunteering interviews when the goal is language practice and clearer answers, not hiring predictions.
Practise productive vocabulary recall before revealing answers, with cues and a later retry within the chat. Use when a learner wants to retrieve and use words or phrases from their list or a small chosen topic.
Coach a learner to notice and repair one meaningful language issue before showing a model. Use when a learner requests feedback on their own sentence or short spoken or written response and wants a guided retry.
Practise understanding, retelling and explaining a short source for a new audience. Use when a learner wants reading-to-speaking or listening-to-speaking practice, with faithful meaning and a supported retry.
Choose a practice skill, language, approximate level and feedback language. Copy the prompt into ChatGPT, then answer one task at a time before asking for a model answer. The skills guide conversation, oral exam rehearsal, interviews, vocabulary recall, self-correction and retelling.
What is a language-learning agent skill?
A RubricMark agent skill is a reusable set of instructions for a practice session: how the AI should begin, wait for your attempt, give feedback and invite a retry. Copy the instructions into a chat, or download SKILL.md for an agent that supports the Agent Skills format. Downloading a file does not install it in ChatGPT.
Can I use these prompts in ChatGPT voice mode?
Choose Voice before copying the prompt, paste it into ChatGPT, then start voice mode if available in your account. The instructions ask for short turns and time to answer. A text-only chat can help with wording, but cannot assess pronunciation from a transcript.
Which languages and levels can I practise?
Choose a listed language or enter another language or regional variety. Set a separate feedback language and a practice level from A1 to C1. These levels guide the difficulty; they are not a certified assessment. Language and voice quality depend on the AI service you use.
Are the skills free, and do I need to connect RubricMark?
The six skills can be copied, downloaded and shared without a RubricMark account. Connecting the RubricMark app is optional; compatible MCP clients can request the same skills with get_language_practice_skill. The separate situation catalogue has its own access rules. ChatGPT account limits and charges still apply; short prompts do not guarantee token savings.
