Question 1

What is Edutest?

Accepted Answer

Edutest is a scholarship and selective-entry battery used by Australian schools: Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, and Written Expression. If the letter names Academic Assessment Services (AAS), start that sit here, then add a HAST abstract drill for figural items. RubricMark sits those clocks at rubricmark.com/edutest. Scholarship sittings are about 135 minutes; Selective Entry sittings with planning time are about 155 minutes.

Question 2

How do I prepare for Edutest?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the school package first. Alternate ability and achievement sections across the week, sit one timed RubricMark trial every two weeks at rubricmark.com/edutest, then drill the weakest section. In the last two weeks, write under the writing clock and submit for marks after you write.

Question 3

What is on the Edutest exam?

Accepted Answer

Edutest scholarship and selective-entry papers typically use five sections: Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning (ability), Reading Comprehension and Mathematics (achievement), and one Written Expression task. Scholarship / entrance sittings are about 135 minutes (15-minute writing); Selective Entry sittings with planning time are about 155 minutes (35-minute writing). Confirm the exact format with your school.

Question 4

Where can I find Edutest practice tests (Year 5/7 PDF)?

Accepted Answer

Instead of static PDFs, RubricMark answers that intent with timed online trials in the same five-section rhythm, plus writing feedback between school sittings. Free trials let you start without a subscription.

Question 5

Is Edutest the same as the NSW Selective test?

Accepted Answer

No. Edutest is used by many private scholarships and Victorian SEAL streams (and some NSW mid-high entry in Years 8–11). Do not assume the NSW Year 6 → 7 Selective format — practise the Edutest section clocks.

Question 6

Is Edutest the same as an ACER scholarship test?

Accepted Answer

No. If the offer letter names ACER or HAST, sit HAST. If it names Edutest, sit Edutest. If it names Academic Assessment Services (AAS), practise the AAS skill areas here — reading, maths, verbal and numerical reasoning, and writing — then add a HAST abstract drill for figural or spatial reasoning. The school name on its own does not pick the paper.

Question 7

Is an AAS scholarship test the same as Edutest?

Accepted Answer

No. AAS is a different provider. RubricMark maps AAS scholarship skills onto the existing Edutest timed sit (and HAST abstract for figural and spatial items). Confirm the provider on the letter before you start.
