GAMSAT Section 3: applying science to reasoning questions
Practise interpreting biology, chemistry and physics information under time — not memorising a full undergraduate syllabus.
Reason from the stimulus first
Section 3 rewards using graphs, experiments and short scientific passages. Identify the quantity asked, the variables given and the relationship you must apply before recalling a formula from memory.
Close only the prerequisites you miss
- Log the concept behind each miss (units, stoichiometry, forces, genetics, acid–base).
- Review a short, targeted note — not an entire textbook chapter.
- Re-attempt a fresh item of the same family closed-book.
Separate error types
Track interpretation, calculation, unit conversion and pacing separately. A high volume of untimed reading rarely fixes the decision that failed under the clock.
Try the questions before reviewing the answers
Try the task under a clear time limit before reading guidance. Review the evidence behind each decision, repair one weakness, then attempt a fresh item without notes.
