Learn English with Ronri: dictionary, notes and purposeful practice
Build a short English study routine with a contextual dictionary lookup, a vocabulary note, flashcard recall and a focused speaking or exam task.
Which part of English should I practise today?
Start with one outcome: understand a short passage, use a new expression in a sentence, answer a speaking prompt or practise a particular exam task. A general wish to improve English is useful motivation, but it does not choose the work for this session.
Choose a short source you can understand with a few checks. Keep its title and the sentence you are studying in a note. Ronri and RubricMark can support parts of this routine; choose a course or teacher separately when you need a complete sequence of instruction and feedback.
How do I use the dictionary instead of collecting translations?
Look up the word or phrase that blocks your understanding. Check the meaning that fits the sentence, its word class and a relevant example. A learner’s dictionary provides more than an equivalent in another language: those details help you decide how to use the word.
For “Please note the new date”, save note as a verb meaning to notice or remember, alongside the sentence. Then write your own example. Keep the chosen sense rather than every definition. Use the installed dictionary options shown in Ronri; language and offline coverage depend on the dictionary.
What should go into my flashcards?
Make a small set from the note. One card can give a sentence with a blank; another can ask you to explain the expression in context. Check any AI draft against the original material before saving it, especially when several meanings or grammatical patterns are possible.
In Ronri, try the answer before revealing it and follow the review schedule. Keep the source note for longer explanations. A card should have a clear answer you can check; a whole passage with several possible interpretations is better handled as a reading task.
How do I add speaking or exam preparation?
For speaking, use an available conversation or speaking activity with a specific aim, such as explaining a daily plan. Reuse one expression from the note, then review whether it conveyed your meaning. Tool feedback can guide another attempt; it is not a certified language assessment.
For IELTS, PTE or another exam, open its own page and select the appropriate format or level. Keep a short record of the task and the next correction. If a feature or dictionary is unavailable in your installed app, the linked web resources provide a clear place to continue without assuming identical features on every device.
Try it yourself
You saved “note = written message”, but the sentence is “Please note the new date”. What needs correcting before you make a card?
Show the answer and explanation
Use the verb sense, such as notice or remember, and keep it with the original sentence. Then create a prompt that tests that use.
The noun definition does not fit this sentence. Looking up the correct sense prevents the flashcard from rehearsing the wrong meaning.
