Learn Japanese with Ronri: words, reading notes and JLPT practice
Connect a Japanese dictionary lookup to a sentence note, a recall card and JLPT practice at the level you choose.
Where should I start with Japanese resources?
Choose one short lesson or passage in the Japanese resource library and a level that fits your current study. If you are preparing for JLPT, confirm what your target level assesses using the official descriptions. The exam’s content is not identical to every everyday communication goal.
For this session, aim to understand one sentence and explain a useful word or grammar relationship. Keep its source in a note. You can add separate speaking or writing work for personal goals; do not assume a JLPT practice result measures those skills.
How do I use Ronri’s Japanese dictionary?
Look up an unfamiliar word, check its reading and choose the meaning that fits the sentence. Keep the word together: the reading of a kanji in one word is not automatically the reading to use in another. Review the available dictionary details rather than guessing from an isolated character.
Use the original example “図書館で本を読みます。” Record 図書館(としょかん) and that the sentence describes reading a book at the library. The note should help you recover the meaning of the sentence, not only recognise the translated word library.
How do notes become a short recall task?
Make one question that hides the point you want to remember. You might ask how to read 図書館, or which particle fits 図書館_本を読みます. Keep the answer and a brief reason on the other side, checked against your lesson or dictionary.
Review the cards in Ronri before opening the explanation. If an AI tool drafted them, check readings, sentence meaning and answer uniqueness yourself. A card with several defensible answers is a poor test unless the prompt clearly states what counts as correct.
How do I connect this to JLPT practice?
Open the JLPT page, select the target level and choose the available task you need. After answering, compare the result with your note: did you forget the word, miss a grammar relationship or lose the evidence in a passage? Use that distinction to choose the repair.
Keep listening practice linked to audio and do not replace it with transcript reading. Revisit a corrected point later with a fresh sentence. Ronri’s cards and dictionaries support that cycle, while the website’s exam page keeps the level and practice context visible.
Try it yourself
For 図書館で本を読みます。, propose two different short checks: one for vocabulary and one for grammar.
Show the answer and explanation
Vocabulary: “How do you read 図書館?” Answer: としょかん. Grammar: “Which particle marks where the reading happens?” Answer: で.
The first checks a word’s reading; the second checks the role of the place in this sentence. Separate prompts make a later mistake easier to interpret.
